Who is in the Boat?
2/22/2023
A candidate we are working with wants to grow their career, and has an offer pending with our client.
But she is holding back a bit for some reason.
Not jumping for it as we thought she should / would.
Hmmm.
It’s surprising because she wants to grow and she wants stability, and this company possesses these qualities in spades.
And she’s not a fan of her current co-workers.
Our consulting in this particular case.
One of the most import factors in choosing a company to work for is the quality of the people in the organization.
You mentioned that you are not a fan of your current team members.
And …. you are naturally influenced by and may even naturally become more like the people who you share your work time with.
So choose wisely!
Here are the 2 biggest things to look for regarding members of the team:
1. Will they help you elevate your game, make you better?
2. Will they have your back, and support you or cover for you if you hit a rough patch? Because rough patches never, not happen.
It’s not easy to uncover this information during the interview process, where everyone is selling / recruiting.
And online reviews are often unreliable, especially if they are anonymous. Ramp this up to the millionth power with AI language models, that make online reviews just about worthless.
Alignment with a recruiter who is connected and has the inside scoop can certainly help … in this particular company, here are the stories from 7 people who we have placed here previously …..
And the best source always is a trusted person who works at the organization currently and is willing to share some inside scoop.
Do you know anyone who works there currently, who you can trust?
But try to understand who is in the boat.
The type of people you will be going to battle in the open seas with every day.
In good times and bad.
The roads were good here in SE-MI early today. But trusted weather sources are predicting bad weather in a few hours.
1 sheet thick of ice everywhere.
How does this happen …
I know there was a super hero who did this.
But nothing is slowing us down here at SCN – Search Consulting Network!
We’re getting after it.
Make it a great day everyone.
