Times Do Change

3/13/2025

“I’m taking another offer”.

We hear this in our line of work.

Our network is filled with great candidates who are in demand.

About 6 months ago, we were working with a candidate who told us this, but we were surprised.

The client we introduced him to is an excellent company, and they provided a great offer. But it was full-time in the office.

This candidate took less money, for a different offer, with a company that had financial problems.

But the position was fully remote.

Now, he’s back on the market … no surprise.

“Is that company still hiring”?

Why, as a matter of fact, yes they are. But the position is full-time, in the office.

“I’d like to be remote though”.

Go fish.

There is not always a clear solution in the world of work, especially as companies change on a dime.

But turning down this type of opportunity, when unemployed and coming off a remote position that didn’t work out, is a new wrinkle in the world of work.

Just a few years ago, a full-time steady office job with a great company and upside was a career dream for most.

As long as enough companies offer remote work, they’ll be the preferred options for employment.

And in this candidate’s example, even changing jobs frequently, because of the option of working remotely, supersedes the old-school approach, of a good, steady office job.

Old school … being just 5 years ago (it was march of 2020 when Covid pandemic chaos disrupted our world like never before … it touched base in the US in January of 2020).

Times do change.

Speaking of which … I’m enjoying the extended daylight, from the recent spring forward in the clocks.

28-57 degrees, sunshine. More change, the promise of spring is real now.

Make it a great day, everyone!
