Those of us old enough to remember watching ‘The Brady Bunch’ on TV, also remember the First interview, when we entered the job market.

Put on a tie and jacket (or equivalent), go to office (or meet an out of town manager at a hotel), bring a copy of your resume, and then interview with a manager for 30 – 60 minutes.

Sometimes this meeting was preceded by a 15 – 20 minute phone screen with an HR Representative.

Post covid … The First F2F interview, has now become a video interview with the manager.

Managers are video interviewing people who live 5 minutes away from the office.

OK … so what?

Well, the takeaway … it’s important to treat these first ‘Video’ meetings, like the old school first F2F interviews … the questions you need to answer, the questions you need to ask, etc.

Most important though, is what you wear.

Probably not the hoodie.

It’s the first visual impression.

And … there is only one chance for that.
