Taking Shots
6/18/2024
Brad Stevens was a D3 Basketball Player at DePauw University, and after graduation he worked in Pharmaceutical Sales for Eli Lilly.
A few years later he quit his position and worked as a volunteer basketball coach at Butler University.
A few years later, he became their head coach, and took them to two Final Fours.
He was then targeted by the Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations, Danny Ainge, to be their head coach at age 36.
A few years later, he was promoted to President of Basketball Operations, and soon thereafter named the NBA Executive of the Year. Just recently he lead the Celtics organization to another NBA Championship.
Every single position he has been in, he excelled and accomplished more quickly than any other person to have held those positions previously.
Butler took a shot at him after being out of basketball a few years.
The Celtics took a shot on him at a young age and very little coaching experience overall.
Great examples of finding talent, and taking a shot, even if the resume wasn’t filled with the requisite experience needed.
Nice article about his moves as GM in the comments below.
73-90, clouds.
Make it a great day, everyone!
