I’ve jumped in the past few weeks, hands-on, helping source candidates for our open positions.
Here are a couple of insights for candidates seeking positions after going through this process.
1. Specifics Matter: Current Residence Location, Phone, Email, Job Title, Years at Each Position, Location of each Position
NOTE: Too many people leave off these details and the resume immediately gets passed over, because it’s too hard to follow the career story.
2. Following Instructions: Some people will connect with me over LinkedIn DM, and I ask them to switch to email, but instead they will continue to ping me and send their resume to me via DM (instead of via email).
NOTE: The resume would have to be absolutely perfect to continue forward with a candidate who isn’t following simple instructions.
3. Too Many Words in the Cover emails and DM Messages. I’d suggest this overview.
