Detroit Lions Detroit Lions General Manager Brad Holmes was voted the 2023 NFL General Manager of the Year.

Detroit Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell was named 2023 NFC Coach of the Year.

The Detroit Lions … made a serious run this year, but had their hearts ripped out by the SF 49ers yesterday.

Down and out.

But a great year nontheless!


An unheralded hero that helped get the franchise on track …

Sheila Ford Hamp, Principal owner and Chairwoman of the Detroit Lions.

She’s the one who hired Homes and Campbell.

And all of the moves made since assuming principal ownership in 2020 of the Lions franchise have been the right ones.

She’s not a figurehead owner.

She’s hands-on and active in the day-to-day operations of the organization.


Many owners may have bailed on Campbell and Holmes after their rocky start in the wins and loss columns.

In October of 2022 with the Lions at 1-5 and just 4-18-1 since General Manager Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell took over the team’s football operation, owner Sheila Ford Hamp talked to reporters.

“We’ve got a long way to go in this season. I wanted to talk to you guys because I know — really, talking to you, talking to the fans — everyone’s frustrated. I’m frustrated,” Hamp said, via video from Brad Galli of WXYZ Detroit. “But, again, I really believe in what we’ve got and what we’re going to be. It just takes time.”

She was in the building, and in the meetings, she had a great perspective of the magic that was happening.

Credit to her for staying the course, and believing in the vision that had been created, and for getting this organization in the mix.


Maybe next season … discussions on when to kick field goals???
