Rolling Into 5.0?

11/7/2023

Spring Break … college freshman year … Vanilla Ice in concert on a beach in Daytona, FL.

“Rolling, in my 5.0 ….”.

Are we just now rolling into Industry 5.0?

Many experts think so.

Here’s a high-level manufacturing evolution.

Pre-Industry 1.0 – 1790 – Textile Manufacturing, the first production in America.

Industry 1.0 – Early 1800’s – Industry of Steam.

Industry 2.0 – 1870’s – Technological Revolution, introduction of electrical technology and the beginning of mass production.

Industry 3.0 – 1970’s – The Digital Revolution, the beginning of IT and computer technology, partial automation using computers and PLCs.

Industry 4.0 – 2011 – Humans working with smart technology, sustainability, smart machines, IoT and a connected network of machines, green technology, ESG, big data, large advancements in automation.

Industry 5.0 – 2022? / 2023? ??? – Robots and Smart Machines working alongside people with added resilience and sustainability goals in mind, humans and A.I. work side-by-side to improve the efficiency of production, better customizations; large organizations have huge competitive advantages over the smaller companies that are absent of this technology.

From the 1870’s to the 1970’s .. sure things changed … but not significantly.

But look at how much things have changed in the past 10 years … manufacturing developments at an almost light speed rate.

Throw in some labor movements, covid supply chain entanglements, rising interest rates, inflation, transitions to green technologies in mobility and energy and a retiring boomer work force …

More disruption than ever.

Challenges that are not for everyone.

Incredibly challenging for manufacturing CEOs, picking the right directions while navigating forward.

Successful teams will have the right people in the right seats … or the right stations on the floor.

Getting the right people on the team is arguably the single most important initiative for every company who is in business.

Winning teams are made of winning people.

Helping companies find these key people to meet these challenges head-on, is what drives us here at SCN – Search Consulting Network.

Thrilled to be part of the journey ahead with you.

Tons of work ahead for society .. and for SCN.

But we can’t wait for the challenge.

It’s going to be fun.

To 5.0 … and Beyond!

Make it a great day, everyone!
