Planning for Transition

9/30/2024

We placed a candidate at a company recently, they put in a 2 weeks notice, and before the notice was up, the employer said ok, today is your last day.

A growing trend in business has been companies letting people go, after a 2 week notice or resignation has been provided.

Employees who are transitioning to a new position need to plan for this possible outcome.

The best way is to work with the new employer:

1.) Provide a two week notice (the new employer will appreciate this)

2.) Pick a start date, if the 2 week notice is well received

3.) See if the company is willing to take you on at any near future point in time, if the current employer ends employment before the 2 weeks is up

You never fully know how an employer will receive a notice but planning for all possible transition outcomes is a good best practice in the modern world of job seeking.

61-75, clouds, sunshine.

An exciting finish to September in Detroit, the Tigers are in the playoffs.

Make it a great day, everyone!
