Paying for Talent

10/14/2024
We had a recent search where the client has an ideal candidate in mind, we identified and recruited the candidate, and then compensation expectation of the candidate was too far above what the client is willing to pay.
The client chose not to pay for the talent.
Paying for talent pays off though … usually.
Just look at MLB where 4 teams remain. The top 3 payrolls this year are the Mets, Yankees, and Dodgers.
Congrats to the great leadership of the Tigers (#24 out of 30) and the Guardians (#28 out of 30).
TOSU made noise this past offseason in the wild NIL college football world, with a payroll of $25M for transfers from the portal. So far, it has not paid off as they suffered yet another “L” vs. a Top 10 Team at the hands of Oregon this past weekend.
Paying for talent doesn’t always guarantee success, but it sure give you a great chance for it to happen.
And sustainable success … can only happen with both, talent and leadership.
Great run for the Tigers, and the Lions are looking good.
Speaking of talent … what a loss though with Hutchinson likely out for the rest of the season.
42-53, darkness, clouds and some rain possibly.
Make it a great day, everyone!
