On Water Mobility

Advancements in mobility are moving forward at light speed levels.
Cars, boats, trains, planes.
But also great infrastructure is needed.
Nice time visiting Swift Rapids Lock 43 in the Trent-Severn waterway system in Ontario, CA which was started in 1917 and completed in 1965.
Boats float onto the lock chamber, then they are either raised or lowered 50 feet, onto the next section of the waterway.
Simple, quick, safe.
But the lock is an incredible feat in engineering.
It meets the challenges presented by waterways that drop to different heights (think Niagara Falls).
