Offer Retracted

2/4/2025

After an exhaustive search, we had a candidate receive and accept an offer for a very specific engineering position.

But then, after receiving the offer, the candidate started bringing up different requests, that were previously thought to have been answered during the interview process.

This position is 5 days a week, in person, in the office.

Can you commit to doing this?

Yes.

OK, offer in-hand.

Can I work remotely on Wednesdays, and sometimes I need to come in late on Thursday?

Offer, retracted.

It’s a common sense best practice, to mean what you say, and say what you mean during the interview process, before, during, and after offer received.

Back to square 1. New Candidate.

This position is 5 days a week, in-person, in the office … can you commit to doing this?

Yes.

Are you sure?

Yes.

Are you double sure?

Yes

Are you triple sure?

Maybe. Just kidding. Yes.

Great! You could be the one.

26 – 20, getting a bit colder again.

Make it a great day, everyone!
