Interesting conversation with a colleague from a non – SCN company yesterday.

“I’m having a hard time motivating the team”.

Oh wow, good luck with that.

Fortunately, the team I work with is extremely motivated.

Sometimes people have a tough day, or a tough stretch, and it’s important to talk it through, and let the frustration out.

All good managers know when to pick someone up, if they’re in a down stretch.

Nobody can be at the 100% top level of motivation all the time though … impossible … it’s against human nature.

So don’t expect this from the team.

Generally speaking though, motivation has to come from within.

And the general trend line of motivation needs to be up … if it isn’t, then the position may not be a right fit for the person.
