That’s been the theme for most of 2023.

Companies putting a bit of a squeeze on headcount.


Trying to do more … with less people.


One of the ways that managers have shaken up the ranks is with highly critical performance reviews.

The angle is that these difficult sessions will prompt some people on their team to quit, and therefore not have to lay them off or let them go.

Layoffs and terminations tend to make the news headlines.

But trying to influence people to quit … 1 x 1 … word doesn’t travel as quickly.


And as far as the workers go … go where you’re wanted … makes sense to me.


That’s the way the wind is blowing … today …
