Lane of Peace
8/15/2024
Empathy and compassion are critical for lasting positive relationships in business.
They are evolved states of being, beyond the basic survival instincts of fight or flight, or suspicion and judgment.
Have they become more rare than common, as people increasingly work remotely and through screens for communication?
As transactional communication increases … and relational communication decreases?
If so, are screens for communication and remote work away from others, making us devolve then?
Or does the remote work and screen communication increase our empathy and compassion?
It’s an interesting topic, because screens and remote work aren’t going away anytime soon, if ever.
Screens or no screens, remote or in office, the best way to spot someone who is the smartest emotionally (EQ), is to find the people who are kind. They have the most empathy and compassion, which is a sign of their growth as a human.
These are the people to align with.
Toxicity, cruelty, mean-spirit, unkind … people with these traits will always present themselves in business. It’s part of the cost of choosing to be a member of society.
Best route when it approaches, is to take the high road and stay above the fray.
Choose the lane of peace.
If you are able to do this, then you’ve shown a more highly evolved state of being. And it’s just a less stressful and more productive way to exist.
“And you’ve got that going for you … which is nice ….”….. (ha, name that movie).
63-82, sunshine.
Make it a great day, everyone!
