Interviewing Leverage

12/4/2024

We are working with a candidate who lives in the south in a small town in a rural area.

There are only a few companies in the town and he is interviewing with one of them. In this particular case, there is a surplus of candidates for the position.

Not a lot of interviewing leverage.

We are working with a manufacturing engineer candidate, who has a BSME, is a US Citizen, and is willing to relocate anywhere in the US for the best career opportunity for himself.

He has a ton of interviewing leverage.

Understanding the leverage position should dictate one’s approach in hiring and interviewing practices.

This job would be so boring though, if we didn’t get the occasional candidate who has no leverage, but asks for compensation 25% above market!

Or a company that only offers low compensation packages, but they expect perfection from the people who interview there!

That’s part of what we try to do with our search consulting, to explain the situation so everyone has a clear idea of what to expect … especially when things begin to get interesting :).

“A Man on the Inside” …. an enjoyable 8 episode comedy on Netflix with Ted Dansen. A lot of laughs, and some good feelings.
