“We really got along well”.

or

“We just didn’t connect”.

These are among the first things we hear from candidates during interview debrief calls.

One of our stellar search consultants brought this up in a conversation yesterday, sometimes chemistry between the candidate and the hiring manager is why a placement happens.

Even above everything in a job description or on a resume.

Sometimes great chemistry happens naturally.

But it also can be created, from the hiring periodic table in the hiring lab.

Highlights

1. Research the other party (Website, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok) …. find out as much information as possible and insert into the conversation.

2. Show up on Time

3. Dress the Part – Jackets and Ties or suits for men are still recommended and equivalent for women (even for Zoom Calls).

4. Positive Vibes – Body Language, words said, how the words are said, good energy.

5. Good handshakes or Covid Fist Bumps – During covid, the handshake took a hit, but I think it’s back, as strong as ever ….. if a video call great lighting, big smiles, and some friendly banter.
