I helped a candidate prepare for an interview a few years ago, while training one of our new recruiters.

Out of the blue, this candidate reached back to me yesterday, he’s interviewing for a position with a different company.

Not through SCN – Search Consulting Network.

But he asked for assistance in preparing for the interview anyway.

Here’s my best advice regarding modern interviewing.

Show a progression of proof when explaining something about yourself.

i.e. I designed XYZ Product.
Here it is on my resume.
Here is a copy of my design.
Here is the letter of congrats I got from success in designing this product.

i.e. I increased sales by 10% last year.
Here it is on my resume.
Here is a copy of my sales detail report showing this increase.
Here is the A+ performance review I received from this accomplishment.


Casualness has replaced professionalism in business.

So don’t be casual.

Stand out, by being professional.

Professional beats casual 10/10 on my scorecard.


Show your worth … with proof.
