Too often, it’s also seemingly the internal message in corporations before offers are delivered.

Range is 90K – 120K.

At 100K he’s all in.

We’re going to offer 92K, but we have room to negotiate.

They’re offering 92K, but it’s a great company.

But I need 100K, we talked about this each time during our 19 conversations after you called me originally.

OK, let me see what we can do.

He needs 100K.

Will he take 96K?

Will you take 96K?

No, I need 100K. I’m just about ready to walk.

Wait, don’t walk.

He’s going to walk, if we can’t get to 100K.

What about 99K and a 1K sign-on.

I can’t ask him, we’ll lose him.

How about 100K, let’s get him off the street, and I’ll be sure that he knows he has to do all of the extra work that is required for success.

OK, that sounds good.
