I spoke with a friend yesterday who started up in the commercial real estate industry, right when covid hit.

Talk about timing … not … good.

But work is important to him, he fought through, and now he’s doing really well. He can get through anything.

Work importance on a scale of 1-10 for him is a 10.

According to Dirty Jobs Host, Mike Rowe, there are 9 million ‘Dirty Jobs’ open right now, and there are millions of men not working who have left the work force completely. For these people, work is not important, a 1 on the scale.

There are others who like part time work, as they balance personal obligations, or perhaps someone has to work and they are just trying to do as little as possible, work is maybe a 4-5 for them in importance.

Others work a full day, 8-5, and then punch out, work importance here is maybe a 7 or 8.

Mitch McDeere would be a 10. Harvey Specter, a 10.

Dan Campbell …. a 10.

For most executives, or big billers, work is a 10 in importance.


There is no right or wrong answer … just curious what the number is for you.


The number is cold here in SE-MI …16-21, clouds.
