Hiring Time, Tuning In
9/8/2023
It’s that time of year.
Kids are back to school.
Leaves are turning color.
Days are shorter and cooler.
Football season.
Fall … yes.
But it’s also hiring season … (largely because summer vacations are over and companies are gearing up for next year).
CEOs, and their shareholders want their piece of the pie.
There is so much to do in society still, opportunity is abundant.
Great people are needed to do great things.
Great people are needed to hit the numbers that are needed.
Great people need to be hired.
Sometimes though, great people do not get hired … even though they should have been … simply because they didn’t interview well.
Here is a quick checklist that we’ve collected from our client base over the past couple of months, when a great person was interviewed, but didn’t get hired.
1. Hiring manager asks a question, and candidate doesn’t answer the question, and rambles on and on and ever forgets the original question.
2. Candidate interrupts the interviewer.
3. Candidate is asked a behavior-based interview question, and does not have examples from their work history.
If you want a seat at the table, listen closely to what the manager says or asks.
Tune in.
It just may mean the difference between getting hired, or not.
51-74, clouds.
Make it a great Monday, everyone!
