Hiring Pipeline

2/8/2024

We had 3 separate instances recently where the candidate ‘fell off’ (ended up not taking the position after ‘saying yes’).

In each of these instances, the hiring process stopped, after the chosen candidate was selected (and verbally accepted).

This was a mistake.

Even if someone is ‘at the altar’, it always makes sense to keep the courting process going with others who are qualified and interested.

Just sounds wrong … right?

But in hiring … where the process is fluid … and people change minds … and every single day more people are showing they are willing to accept counter-offers … or at the minimum, willing to manipulate the hiring process to their advantage … collateral damage and all ….

Keep the interview process going with other viable candidate options … even when a ‘verbal yes’ candidate is waiting to start.

It’s extra work … hard to do … but a great best practice for anyone leading a hiring process.

Maybe we’ll find a 100% survey response below.

Heatwave here in the, D … 35-55.

Make it a great day, everyone!
