Lately recruiting has been like the 5 rules of dodgeball.

Rapid, immediate, changes in direction.

New agreement, search stops.

Repeat client, put all hiring on hold in Q4, now their team is struggling, and want to hire yesterday, multiple positions.

Performed a perfect search with a long-term client, they had several great candidates, now all hiring is on hold, out of nowhere, for no reason.

Client didn’t give raises last year, now they’ve lost most of their A Players, hiring frantically.

Client interviewed frantically in Q4, everything has been on hold, now they are hiring rapidly.

There is nobody to blame here, these are the times in business right now.

Prosperity, and carnage.

Some companies are doing great, others are struggling.

Most companies realize talent wins, and sometimes they just can’t pull the trigger, even though a great person is on their doorstep.


So, you want to be a corporate VP? It’s not an easy job. And pressures now are higher than ever.


But as always, worry about what we can control, do our best, and usually good things happen.


30-50 degrees, and some clouds, I’d get in 9 or 18 if the ground weren’t so wet.
