Confidential searches are on the rise.

We had a few call-ins this week.

“I’m looking for this type of person, but please do not release word to the market. I need to move quickly here in about 30 days”.

Managers have to hit their numbers.

They need people who are pushing hard to get the job done.

Here’s my recommendation for anyone who is in the world of work and is interested in keeping their position or growing within the company.

1. Seek out your manager and the next level up once or twice a quarter, for a catch-up conversation. We call them ‘huddle-ups’ at SCN. Discuss how things are going, what can be improved, etc.

2. See 1 above.

Manager’s are running frantic these days. 

Don’t rely on them to find you.

You find them.

Yes of course they should be proactively reaching out for quarterly touches, but typically they don’t have the time to do so.

So be proactive.


Get ahead of any potential problems that may exist with your work, that you may not be aware of.

It just may be enough to give you the information needed, to keep things rolling … assuming you want to of course.
