Several years ago, we placed a candidate in a manager position in the ‘late fall’ time period.

This new manager took his wife with him to the company holiday party.

He was introduced and got ‘booed’ by the employees.

Anybody who has worked in an office for an extended period of time, probably has a recollection of at least one person who has been over-served at a holiday party.

According to a survey by the American Addiction Centers (Link in comments below):

65% of U.S. companies hold some holiday or end-of-the-year office party

More than half include alcohol at their event (and about only half of these regulate the amount of libations their employees consume)

20% of employees have binge drank at a company holiday party before

Some booze for thought …

Nobody in the history of business has ever been promoted by their performance at a holiday party … but it can go the other way ….
