Changing it Up?

2/7/2024

According to a US Census report, up to 12,000 Boomers (1946-1964) will be retiring per day.

And Gen Z (1997-2012), will account for 27 percent of the workforce by 2025.

Things are changing.

Without a doubt, Gen Z will have a greater impact on business, the way it is done, and what the world of work will look like.

What are they mostly looking for?

Pay.

Flexible working.

Growth potential.

And they want their work to matter, to make an impact on society for the greater good.

We’ve been fortunate at SCN to have such a positive impact and contribution so far with some incredible Gen Z associates!

Thank you TEAM SCN GEN Z!

I viewed some early 20 something social media ‘influencer’ videos recently.

Making fun of older men (mostly) and women who are their managers.

At complete wits end with the older people in their place of work.

They don’t get it.

They just don’t understand.

Fun and interesting videos, with a lot elements of truth to them.

But also, elements of disconnect and lacking perspective.

Any good company, should entertain ideas to adapt to Gen Z. They are coming hard into the world of work.

And any good company, is made of managers who will be on the front lines for the conversations, where it all starts with Gen Z workers.

Books will be written on this topic (just like the ones I read when Millennials came into the world of work).

It’s more important than ever to understand how to work with Gen Z.

Basic Beginning Tips for Managers when Working with Gen Z Employees:

1. How you say it, is arguably more important than what you say

2. Clear and concise communication is best

Basic Beginning Tips for Gen Z Workers as You Embark Upon Impacting Your Organization with Ideas for Change:

1. Offer suggestions or ideas, instead of demands

2. Excel at your position first … and then start with the ideas

It’d be interesting to hear some of the feedback you’ve seen with Gen Z making their impact in the workplace.

27-46, heat.

Make it a great day, everyone!
