Career Pivot

10/17/2024

Spoke with a candidate the other day in a prep training call.

He has a BS in Engineering, he targeted a specific company for employment because the huge corporate office was located where he wanted to live, he got hired by the company, and then 2 years in the company was sold, his division was divested, all of the planning was blown up in an instance, and he then had to pivot to something new.

Maddening.

But the financial world isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

Because of that, companies being bought and sold, is going to always be a part of the business world, and often times this leaves people without a job.

Being able to pivot career-wise is more important than ever.

The key … develop skills or industry knowledge that is transferrable.

In this particular case, the candidate was a degreed engineer, but they had a good personality, so sales is now on the table as a career pivot option.

Easier said than done!

But give it a thought … what if your company is sold … and you are out of a job … what next?

34-60, sunshine (bright intense fall season sunshine).

Make it a great day, everyone!
