Best-Fit Candidate = candidate who is closest to ideal, and is motivated for what the hiring company is offering.
If you make a best-fit hire, you are winning.
The only way to be sure if it is the best-fit candidate though is to do a full scan of the market, including old-school recruiting strategies of outreach and cold calling.
Not an easy thing to do.

We have a client hiring manager who does an incredible job of finding something wrong with each candidate presented.
He’s not wrong, nobody is perfect (or ideal), especially based on what he is willing to offer.
OK, we have fully scanned the market, and think candidate B is the best-fit hire for these reasons, but let us know what you think.

If hiring … yes be critical in the analysis of the candidates.
But if you are not able to change your offering, and the market has been fully scanned, it’s time to focus on the best-fit.
