Job Title: Automation Implementation Engineer
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Automation Implementation Engineer to join our team. This position requires expertise in non-contact inspection systems, automation, and closed-loop process control. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in programming robots and PLCs, tuning vision systems hardware and software, and integrating data acquisition devices with manufacturing equipment to enable real-time process control. This is a key role in optimizing and automating our production processes, ensuring high efficiency and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Non-Contact Inspection and Automation: Lead the implementation and optimization of non-contact inspection systems with a strong emphasis on automation and closed-loop process control.
- Robot and PLC Programming: Design, program, and troubleshoot robots and PLCs for automation solutions in manufacturing environments, ensuring seamless integration with other systems.
- Vision System Tuning: Configure, calibrate, and fine-tune vision systems (hardware and software) to enhance inspection capabilities and support real-time process adjustments.
- Data Integration: Develop and implement solutions to connect data acquisition devices with manufacturing equipment, enabling real-time monitoring and closed-loop control of production processes.
- Process Control and Optimization: Implement process control strategies and algorithms that enable real-time adjustments based on inspection data, leading to improved product quality and production efficiency.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including production, quality control, IT, and engineering to develop and deploy automation solutions that align with company goals and standards.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for automation systems, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum system performance.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain clear documentation for all automation implementations, including system configurations, programming code, and troubleshooting procedures.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of [X] years of experience in automation implementation, with a strong focus on non-contact inspection systems and closed-loop process control.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in programming robots (e.g., ABB, FANUC, KUKA, etc.) and PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
- Experience with vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence, or similar) including configuration, calibration, and tuning of both hardware and software.
- Familiarity with data acquisition systems and their integration with manufacturing equipment for real-time process control.
- Knowledge of control systems, feedback loops, and automation frameworks.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex automation and process issues.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external vendors.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and objectives are achieved.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with machine learning or AI applications in automation.
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0 concepts and smart manufacturing technologies.
- Familiarity with safety standards and protocols for automated systems (e.g., ISO 13849, IEC 61508).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which may require standing, walking, and lifting equipment or materials.
- Willingness to travel to various manufacturing sites as required.

Job Responsibilities
- Develop, validate, and implement new manufacturing process technology innovation to secure machine KPI improvement for reduced cost, introduce new manufacturing process capability, and ensure sufficient process
- Implementation of the manufacturing processes includes the maintenance of standard recipes (PFMEA, Process, Equipment, and Tooling standards) for your technology area
- Responsible for developing manufacturing process KPI’s and investments for all new model quotation activities at all AANA sites for review with the Technology Leader
- Upon business award, product designs will be reviewed to confirm manufacturing feasibility, recommend alternative design solutions to address feasibility or commercial risks, and support the development of process flow/equipment/tooling/check fixture designs with each manufacturing site engineering team.
- Area Scope: Research, develop and implement state of the art automotive glass fabrications processes from block glass to finished goods. Process portfolio ranges from glass fabrication such as cut/grind/bending/printing to assembly of multi-layer laminates having complex features to non-contact inspection with an emphasis on automation and closed-loop process control.
