Applications Engineer

 

We are partnering with a well established packaging firm, looking for a highly skilled Applications Engineer.

  • Full Time, Direct Hire

 

Background Requirements

  • 35% — Work directly with the sales team and customers to gain a clear understanding of the customer’s requirements, how the complete Engineered System should be configured, and ensure companies proposed solutions are highly competitive. 
  • 35% — Work with internal and external resources to effectively prepare supporting data for proposals for Engineered Systems and ensure an effective transition/hand-off to Project Management of won opportunities.
  • 20% — Support the sales team through travel, Live Meetings, and conference calls in the presentation of the resulting Engineered System solution quotes/proposals directly to customer, as required. 
  • 10% — Work closely with Product Management to ensure the systems library and product portfolios are maintained, proper sales training is conducted and marketing collateral is effectively communicated.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ability to thoroughly complete tasks under tight timelines and aggressive sales activity.     
  • Strong technical understanding of packaging industry product lines, robotics/case packing/palletizing/depalletizing and integration/layout/design of Engineered Systems.
  • Ability to organize activities and multi-task in a high energy environment.
  • Sound knowledge of sales and production processes (Sales, Project Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Machine Assembly)
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Travel required as needed to fulfill responsibilities. May be up to 20% Experience:
  • B.A. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and technical/professional experience.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in engineering, controls, robotics, material handling and systems integration.
  • Documented experience in the design and presentation of complete end-of-line packaging systems/proposals that may include case erectors, tray formers, robotic loaders, case sealers, robotic palletizers, stretch wrappers, conveyors, fillers, metal defectors and coding machinery, etc.).
  • CAD skill required (AutoCAD preferred).
  • Proficient in Allen-Bradley controls systems a plus.
